Shooting Scars by Karina Halle

I just finished Shooting Scars by Karina Halle. This is the second book in the Artists Trilogy series. Wow! Talk about leaving you with a cliffhanger! So many questions? Is Gus Ellie's father? Will she and Camden stay together? Will Javier die? I have not read the short story On Every Street. That is a novella from Ellie and Javier's past. I have to say with the first book I was like no way would I like Javier. BUT, in this book, I kind of rooted for him for a few minutes. Then I snapped back to reality and went Team Camden all the way! Another great book by one of my favorite authors!

Let's Talk: Under the Dome Season Finale

Ahhhh! REALLY! I'm so frustrated! I know the season finale was a while ago but I just got around to watching it. Come on, how can it just end before we know if Barbi gets hanged or not?!? So frustrated!

Let's talk makeup: Drugstore Hits and Misses

It is no secret that I have been on a bit of a makeup rampage for the past few months. I'm going to share some of my favorite things and some of these I think everyone should have. Some are not worth the hype. Hopefully this will help you before you spend the money on a product that is not worth it.

OK, Let's start with my absolute favorites. These items work with multiple looks- work, just hanging out or all out glam. They are worth every penny and usually can be found at CVS, Walgreens or Rite Aid for buy 1, get 1 50% off.   FYI- All of the swatches I show are with a very heavy application on my arm. The colors are much more muted and natural looking on your skin. :)

FAVORITE LIP COLOR HANDS DOWN GOES TO: MILANI lipstick in Nude Creme. This color is sooooooo nice! Creamy formula and can be worn for work, night, to work or any occasion you can think of. Dress it up with a lip gloss or just wear it by itself..YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. :)  BEST NUDE LIP COLOR.
FAVORITE BLUSHES HANDS DOWN AGAIN GOES TO MILANI! They have a wide range of colors but these 3 are my favorite. The formula is so creamy. The swatches are pretty heavy on my hand so you can see the color. On your cheeks it's much softer. From left to right: Luminoso- Light beige/nude color with some sparkle that is barely noticeable. I'm also wearing this blush in the picture above. You can wear it very light and natural or add a little more to make it more intense. Middle color is Fantastico Mauve- Very nice mauve/plum color. Great for Fall! Right color, Rose D' Oro- A beautiful, rose gold, peachy color. This is my current favorite. YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE TOO! I like these blushes better than any other brand at the drugstore, period.

FAVORITE LIP GLOSS/NON TRANSPARENT- RIMMEL SHOW OFF LIP LACQUER-  These are $4.99 at Walgreens and usually there is a $1 off coupon. These are soooo pretty! Gives good color with just 1 swipe. They have brighter colors but I went with the more neutral colors. Left to right, Celestial (mauve/pink), Luna (peachy/orange, and Nude Eclipse (nude).

FAVORITE DRUGSTORE LIPSTICKS: MAYBELINE- I have a few different shades but this is all I have with me right now. The formula is nice. They have a humongous color selection. The one on the left is from the vivids collection, Pink Pop. It is a bright pink, very vivid! The one on the right is from the peachy color selection, Peachy Scene.

RUNNER UP: REVLON LIP PRODUCTS: Let me start by talking about the products on the left. The Super Lustrous Lip Glosses. Everyone RAVES about these. I think they are just OK-too sticky for me. Even the darkest shades don't give great color. I bought almost the whole line before the new packaging for $1.74 each. They are swatched on the top left  tiny swatches. I hardly ever use them. In the middle are the Revlon Lip Butters- Top 2 long swatches, Berry Smoothie and Cotton Candy. LOVE, these! You can do one swipe for sheer or build up the color. Feels like chapstick on your lips, so creamy. The bottom swatch, is a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Temptress. It is supposed to be a creamy, shiny lipstick. Not my favorite but not horrible.
RUNNER UP CHEEK PRODUCTS: PHYSICIANS FORMULA: These products are kind of pricey for the dang drugstore, I'm not going to lie. Each item is $10.99 and up. BUT, CVS a lot of times has a deal buy 1 get 1 free which is how I got these. The sale is on right now as well (9/22/13).  I do enjoy these products ONLY from this line. Some of the products are not that great for the amount of money you spend on them. These four, come off subtle and are great for everyday and work. Very natural looking. Left to right: Bronze Booster in Medium to Deep, Happy Booster Blush in Warm, Happy Booster Blush in Rose and Highlighting Light Bronze Pearl. BEWARE: I ONLY RECOMMEND the "BOOSTER" products. The regular blushes and bronzers do not impress me.

TOTAL MISS: RIMMEL LIPSTICKS: The colors are nice but there are just too many cons for me personally. 1. I do not like the smell. It is almost like fruity pebbles or something. 2. The color looks different when it is on your lips. 3. The Kate Moss line (the red tube also comes in a black tube) is VERY drying. I have 5 of them so I will wear them until I use them up but I wont recommend them or repurchase them. I DO LOVE RIMMEL EYELINERS, slim and fat pencils. BEST EVER!

True Blood Seasons 2 & 3/ Living Dead in Dallas and Club Dead

Hey there! I'm still on my True Blood kick. I have been having True Blood book and show marathons lately. I have finished the 2nd and 3rd book in the series and am almost done rewatching the 3rd season. While there are some changes that vary from book to show I would say the show is about 80% accurate. Actually, the changes make the show better I think. Instead of comparing the season and the book-it is becoming a Sookie entwined mess in my head, I'm just going to share some of the highlights.
  • Let's talk about Maryanne: how the heck does she always have fresh fruit out on the counter and not have any fruit flies???
  • Bill telling the store clerk: "I am vampire." (you have to reread those words with a vampire accent- So hilarious!)
  • Eric saying, "Good Evening, Old Sport!!!!!"  You know how much I love Gatsby.
  • In the books, Sookie is the one always getting beat up and injured.
  • Did anyone else forget Franklin the vampire who wants to make Tara his vampire bride? He is effin hilarious! The funniest character ever!
Alright, I'm off to finish season 3!

Lets Talk Movies: The Notebook

It's 3am. I just finished watching The Notebook. It is based on a book by Nicholas Sparks. His wife must be the luckiest woman alive. I think I read somewhere that they have like 5 kids. That does not surprise me. His books and movies are so awesome, sad, beautiful, romantic, etc. I really had no interest in watching The Notebook because everyone I know who saw it cried their eyes out. I'm such a mush that I did not want to cry. One day, Rey brought the movie over, about 3 years ago, and put it in the DVD player. Five minutes into the movie he fell asleep and I began crying. I did not stop crying until well after the movie was over. Today the tears began about half way into the movie. I don't even know why I put the channel on this movie tonight. Oh well! Noah and Ally's love is special. It is the type of love we all hope to have. It is the love that marriages should be built on. Yes, it is fiction. But the idea is very, very real. I think I have that kind of love. If you haven't seen this movie, watch it. It is the sweetest movie! Just breaks your heart.
