Crazy Maybe by A.D. Justice

amazon
Wow! 5 stars! I'm really impressed with this author! This is the first book I have read by her and I will be starting her other book, Wicked Games, ASAP! Why am I so impressed you ask? Let's start with the writing. It is solid. There is a real, solid story line. Her characters- are realistic and memorable. Andi is a strong, determined woman. I could not have written a better female character myself. She just blew me away. Luke....hmmm. Luke is insanely hot and has a good heart but he is a hothead. What guy isn't a hothead? OH! These guys are boxers, even Andi can hold her own. I'm not even kidding when I say she is strong. It is nice to see such a strong woman who has feelings, gets hurt and survives. She handles things like a champ! Sorry guys, this review wont do it justice because I'm too sappy over it right now!

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

  • I could drown in these eyes and die happy.
  • I'm the big, strong fighter but I can't even find the damn words to apologize to this petite, beautiful woman who keeps throwing lifelines even though I've done nothing to deserve them. Or her.
  • ..."So if we had sex, as you're implying, I guess that means you have a really tiny penis and i didn't enjoy it much at all..." LOL!!!!
  • I've kissed countless women in my life, but in this moment, this is the first real kiss I've ever experienced.
  • I will scream, cry, eat fattening foods and grieve tonight. And come tomorrow, I will move on. Because that's what I do. AMEN SISTA!!
There are so many more awesome quotes but I don't want to give anything away! Just read this and find out for yourself. :)
Please and Thank You!
OHH! And Luke totally makes the book boyfriend list!

Favorite quotes Behind His Eyes Consequences

Well, I could not just write a review and forget about my favorite quotes could I? I just did not want to overwhelm you with an essay on Mr. Rawlings. Aleatha has great quotes in all her books. One thing I love about Mr. Rawlings is his eloquent speech. When I hear his voice in my head it is very distinct and debonair, like V from the movie V for Vendetta.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes!

  • "As an esteemed businessman, he forgot one very important rule-he forgot to read the fine print. It wasn't an acquisition to own another person as he'd previously assumed. It was an agreement to acquire a a soul."- Aleatha Romig, Convicted  (Pretty badass!)
  • Clair Nichols was something of a fantasy, his distraction, like an exhibit at the zoo.
  • The fact that the vengeance gods looked down and blessed his plans reinforced his determination.
  • Before embarking on any deal, Anthony Rawlings thoroughly assessed the situation, eliminated the risks, and accentuated the assets.
  • Never in forty-five years had Anthony Rawlings considered himself someone's boyfriend. The concept was laughable. (I agree, he is way too manly for the work "boyfriend.")
  • She needed to recognize his authority! (Insert Cartman from South Park video above)
  • "Excuse me?" Anthony slowed his words. "Did I stutter?" (Oh, crap. She pissed him off!)
  • ...he owned her-all of her, including her thoughts. (This also reminds me of Gatsby wanting to own/change things that is impossible for another to control.)
  • ...his omnipresent power... (Tony has a tiny

    little God complex)
  • "If I say you will do something, you will do it. There are no gray areas? Do you understand?" (Yes, Tony, no 50 shades over here.)
  • Breaking her spirit had been his goal, and in true Anthony Rawlings fashion, he succeeded.
  • "A single moment of misunderstanding can be so poisonous that it can make us forget the many loveable moments spent together." Melchor Lim (So true!)
  • It wasn't like he demanded that much from her. (UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY!!)
  • "Claire loves you and you love her. Let that be enough. There are other Nichols who can pay." ..."Nothing else is necessary; her name is off the list." (WTF, does Catherine get a brownie point?)
  • "Did you take this toxin knowingly?" (*&^%#$#@$^!!! insert any vulgarity here)

Behind His Eyes Consequences by Aleatha Romig

***WARNING-This is a long review & GIVEAWAY at the end.***
5 stars!

Well I'll be damned! What a total mindf*ck! Yes, I'm sorry, that was necessary! It is becoming increasingly popular to read the same book from the male perspective. I have read most of these if I love the original book. It is good. I'm happy I do but they do not evoke the same emotions the second time around. The WOW factor is dimmed a bit. I don't mean that in a bad way of course. We already know what happens but we are getting a different perspective. I think that is what I expected when I started this book. BOY WAS I WRONG! (yes, shouty capitals were necessary)

I read this book slowly. I wanted to devour each word. Or maybe I did not want to relive some of the "glitches." We really get to know Tony. He is so frustrating at times! Normally when I write reviews I do it after I finish the book. I might make a few notes here and there. For this one I had a notebook by my side and scribbled my thoughts-4 pages worth! Normally I have nice handwriting. These notes look like chicken scratch! At one point I got so stressed I had to stop and organize my desk at work!

Above: sloppy notes
Below: Clean desk
Even though you know what is going to happen it does not change your reaction. A part of me did not want to keep reading- I didn't want to relive any other glitches! Even through the good times you are constantly on edge. Waiting...worrying... The rules really hit home. It doesn't matter if you didn't do anything wrong, if it looks wrong he will be mad-and there will be Consequences. What you never see coming is how deep Tony's vendetta runs! Or the depths of his inability to trust. LITERALLY, you will be SHOCKED!

What you can expect from Behind His Eyes Consequences:

  • not a retelling of Consequences
  • renewed anger for Tony
  • increased hatred for Catherine
  • Saying, "OMG, Tony is effin crazy!" many times
Other thoughts:

I love The Great Gatsby. One thing that stuck out with me from that book was the concept of wanting too much. Gatsby wanted Daisy to deny that she ever loved Tom. He wanted to control her heart and her past. He wanted too much. Tony wanted too much. He never felt completely satisfied. He felt the need to test Claire to the breaking point-WELL beyond the breaking point.

Another thing that stuck out with me was the idea of temptation. How much temptation can one person resist? Is it really fair to continuously tempt someone and be shocked with they finally give in to that temptation?

Blog Tour: Without Doubt by CJ Azevedo

I am so sad this book is over! I am so mad I waited so long to read this book! What was I thinking?! Declan, Declan, Declan! I think it is now impossible for me to not LOVE any male character named Declan. I loved Declan aka Dex from the Experiment in Terror Series by Karina Halle. And I surely do love Declan from this book! He is so sweet!!! Why is he so sweet!!! AAHHHH! LOL. OK, back to business, enough gushing. I went into this book blind. I had not a clue on what to expect. First thing I noticed was that Dec was a fighter. I haven't read many of those yet. Dec and Ava are total opposites! He is a fighter, a clean freak and has a pretty awesome life. (If I do say so myself) Ava is messy, keeps to herself and has a world of responsibilities. You know what they say? Opposites attract. My own theory is while there are a lot of opposites there is usually some underlying common ground-like kindness or something. Declan loves Ava. She loves him. Making it work seems impossible to her. He shows some real patience! I am impressed. Oh, he does make me mad but he is just made me swoon so much that I can look past that. I literally laughed out loud and cried all in the matter of 2 hours. I tried to pick out some of my favorite quotes but really this entire book can be a favorite quote!

One Click this one! 5 stars ***** Yes, Dec makes the book boyfriend list for this year!

  • "Well, Barbie, I tend to take care of the patrons that will be paying the tab. Based on the way you girls are dressed tonight, I think it's a safe bet that, in this case, that's going to be these boys here, not you."  (Heck yeah, I love her already!)
  • Oh, God, he's asking me for my name and for a split second I can't remember it.
  • "I'm going to get to you, Sunshine, I promise you that. And when I do, you won't be able to deny me."
  • "I can't say what I need to say while you're looking at me with your big stupid beautiful eyes."
  • This is the kiss from all of the romance movies when the girl finally gets her dream guy or the guy finally pulls his head out of his ass and picks the real girl-their kiss is always explosive, just like this one.
  • "No, Ava. This means that you're mine and nobody else's." (MAJOR SWOON!)
  • He's Googleable?
  • He's a badass, but he's a badass with a heart.
  • In reality, I'm dying; sometimes I can't believe what comes out of my own mouth. (This happens to me also unfortunately)
  • The uneasiness of the conversation or lack thereof is easily outdone by his complete sexiness.

Author Spotlight: Aleatha Romig

In preparation for Behind His Eyes Consequences out on January 14, 2014 lets get to know Aleatha Romig. Since we already know, love and/or hate Tony Rawlings (hopefully) I figured we should spotlight the mastermind that created him. I had the extreme privilege to meet her a few months ago. You can read about that here. I even made her a Tony's Rules t shirt-just as a reminder of what was expected. I can assure you despite her dark, twisted creations she is a very nice woman! Here is a link to all my posts Aleatha and Tony.

ASK ALEATHA:

1. Was it difficult to write Tony’s POV?
It was! I tried to start this book multiple times. Each time I’d get so mad at him that I’d have to stop writing. (Don’t let that scare you) My anger was directed at his indifference more than his behavior. Then, one day I realized my problem. It was Claire. She’d lived in my head for almost three years. I knew what she experienced and how she felt. I couldn’t be Tony with Claire there. Once I realized that and evicted Claire (no exorcism was necessary—lol) I let Tony take over. From what I’ve heard...it was effective. You’ll have to let me know.

2. What is something that we don’t know about your books?
I have made an effort to include all of my children’s and my niece and nephew’s names in my books. In most cases they aren’t the main characters. (I have no relatives named Claire or Anthony) However, beginning in Truth I slipped their names in as tertiary characters. In some cases I used a first name as a last name. BEHIND HIS EYES CONSEQUENCES contains a glossary of characters. That glossary will grow with each reading companion.

The Fire King's Daughter by T.E. Ridener

Finally, a book that used "arse" in a sentence! I did not even see that one coming! Sometimes-OK, almost every time I read a book with men who have accents I am secretly waiting for them to say "arse." I have read so many romance books lately that I forgot what it was like to read a book where there is a focus on something other than the romance itself. T.E. Ridener creates a magical world with the elements, fairies, villains and a great plot. Isaiah and Heidi could not be more different from one another. Literally, Isaiah made me crack up out loud while reading at work. There are so many funny sentences and phrases. Here are some of them:

  • The sound of his voice alone made Heidi want to ignite a bunny rabbit, and that was a shame because she quite liked bunnies.
  • "I think someone must have taken a leak in Jack Frost's Wheaties this morning."
  • "What do you Sheilas do in there, anyway?"
  • Fall Out Boy. What was that? Was it a group of boys who fell out of things?
  • She was not some helpless little princess who would cower away in her tower (which she didn't even have one)... LOL
  • "...and I might add there is no reason to resort to hermitage unless there is someone around to have sex with."
  • But she wouldn't touch him, ever. Unless of course she was going to punch him in the face, but she couldn't do that; it was not something a princess would do.
  • "Dump the daft bloke and find somebody who will appreciate you."
  •  "You're a stubborn, bark-head."
  • "You went off with that imbecile and left me there to look like an arse." (insert girly giggles here)
  • slumber clothes
  • the great crimson flow
  • dash him
  • harlot
  • toaster
  • stupid icer
  • fornicate
  • oh sweet sapphires
